MIA Tweets Phone Number by Elva Ramirez

Singer M.I.A. is not happy with her treatment in a New York Times profile by longtime contributor Lynn Hirschberg. In a move sure to send a shudder to all reporters, the disgruntled singer took to Twitter.

At around 11:30 a.m., Twitter lit up with a tweet from M.I.A. to her over 100,000 followers. She gave a phone number and followed it with: "CALL ME IF YOU WANNA TALK TO ME ABOUT THE N Y T TRUTH ISSUE, ill b taking calls all day b****** ;)" (The starred word rhymes with witches.)

Problem is: that's the cell phone number for reporter Hirschberg. As of this posting, M.I.A.'s missive has been re-tweeted by 100 people. When we called the number seeking a comment from Hirschberg, who left the Times in April, the phone jumped to voicemail; Hirschberg's cell is not surprisingly at capacity and cannot take any more messages.
